I would love this option as well. It would make my Mac very happy.

Poor Mac users always get shafted.
I agree, even though I hate macs lol.
I work on them at school and we just use them as paper weights.

I know about 4 people who would gladly (badly!) buy Guild wars if it ever came out for Macintosh. They only have a Macs as computers and they watch in envy as a I play Guild wars.

I've got two friends who would definitely buy GW if they released a Mac client...one of them might even buy it if a linux client shows up. I try not to talk about GW around them much anymore, it just makes them depressed. Their standard reply anytime I do mention it is "Any word on a Mac client, yet?"
They're really sad they're missing out on the Halloween festivities. And these two officer spots I'm holding open for them in my guild have gone quite cold since April.
So how about it Anet? Please make a Mac client!

My guess: We will not see a Mac GW till mid 2006, cause then Apple will move to x86 architecture. Most game (and other software developers) probably wont invest money and time into migrating software to the old PowerPC (G4/G5) CPU architecture when a immenent change is about to happen soon.
On the other hand, on new intel based Macs (out sometime 2006) there are two easy options for running GW: 1. hack the Mac and install WinXP on it, 2. run WINE on OS X as seen on Linux x86 PCs to run Windows apps.
... hope that will work, cause I already start saving for a new intel based PowerBook, and I dont want to miss GW on that.

Indirectly good news I suppose, since I may be getting a Powerbook next year. I still think the current release should be ported over to the current G4/G5 architecture, since a new Mac architecture will take some time to filter down to the Mac user base (I wont be buying a new Mac HD for a couple years now, for example). What's actually entailed in performing the migration, I havent any idea.
Its probably not high on Anet's priority list, and I would think Chapter 2 trumps it all but certainly, but here's to wishing for some Mac love.

sorry to bump such an old topic, but I have been waiting for gw to come out on macs, my sister has a windows, and I only get to play gw when she lets me, and it's annoying if she suddenly closes the laptop when I'm in the middle of a HA battle.
I would swap my laptop for hers, but I really like my mac, but still really wannna play gw, so yeah, PLEASE make it for macs

how come all the previous posters in this topic said yes, anyway, LifeInfusion, not mac users are gonna be able to use bootcamp because the intel macs have only just came out and you need one of those to play it.
The mac I'm on cose £600 and I'm not gonna pay another £1000 for an intel one or another £200 for a windows.

I know a guy who would probably buy Guild Wars, only he uses a Mac. It seems like by not having a client for Macs, ArenaNet is probably missing out on a large number of potential buyers.

I wouldn't say a large number.. Anyone who cares about playing games would just buy a PC and use Windows. It is the platform for gaming. Sure, Windows has its downsides like security, but it can do almost everything a Mac can and more, so unless someone was buying a Mac for a specific purpose I don't see why people would choose a Mac with its tiny selection of games over a Windows PC with millions of games. The number of Mac gamers are small compared to PC users, so it probably wouldn't be worth the time and money it would take. It's all about the target customers.

A friend of mine is running GW on Linux through a program called Cedega. It does a really great job. He's also running Counter-Strike: Source with it. Since Mac's OS is based on Debian, could something like this work?
Then again, I don't know much about Mac's other than I had to use them for desktop publishing when I took some journalism classes and they crashed all the time. It left a bad taste in my mouth, which is why I'll never get one.
But, for the Linux client question above, look into Cedega... it works.
